Body Waxing
Waxing will achieve smooth, hairless skin in a single session without any knicks that razors can cause. Hair growth is slower with waxing than with shaving, anywhere from three to six weeks, depending on the growth rate and the body area. Consistent waxing changes the hair’s growth cycle and physiology. Repeated waxing weakens the hair follicle resulting in the hair growing back softer and sparser over time. Correct preparation of your skin before waxing and aftercare is important for a successful and long-lasting treatment.
At HKL Studio, our experienced and licensed beauty therapist provide body waxing so you can have sleek and soft skin. Since we offer full body waxing, you can tailor your appointments to suit your schedule, hair growth, and the areas you want us to wax.
Types of Wax Used for Body Waxing
There are several options available, each with its benefits but the most popular are hard and soft waxes. When deciding which wax type to use, our beauticians consider the skin area, hair thickness, length, and precision required. The ingredients in the waxes also play a role as some cater specifically to sensitive and allergy-prone skin types.
-
Hot waxing is beneficial for sensitive skin as the wax’s warmth opens the skin's pores allowing the hair follicles to be more easily removed.
-
With soft waxing or strip waxing, a thin layer of warm body wax is spread over the skin, a strip of cloth is placed over the wax, and then quickly pulled off in the opposite direction to the hair’s growth, removing the hair. This method is typically used on large areas such as arms and legs.
-
Hard wax is typically used for eyebrows and the upper lip as it is easier to apply in small areas and achieves more precise hair removal, making it the wax of choice for facial waxing. Hard wax does not leave behind a sticky residue as it only binds to the hair.
If you have allergies to ingredients or highly sensitive skin, always inform your beautician in advance so they can prepare to have the suitable wax for your skin type ready before your session.
